Synopsis

Mid-Victorian drama of a clergyman, deported to Australia as the result of a forgery he did not commit. The shipowner's son, who is the villain of the piece, is engaged to the governor's daughter in Australia, with whom the clergyman falls in love. He arranges to board her boat when she sails for England. The boat is scuttled - the villain is again the girl's fiance. But the girl and the clergyman are rescued, and, once back in England, expose the villain's wrongdoings. The villain dies of shock. The two protagonists marry.
