Synopsis

Covers the last three months of the 14 month rent and rates strike by 3000 tenants on the Tower Hill estate, Kirkby near Liverpool. Divided into two parts: the first deals with the social conditions - river pollution, bad housing, transport, schooling, etc; the second part deals with the political reaction resulting from the strike.

Repeated as a GIMME SHELTER SPECIAL in which archive film on homelessness is shown with new introductions from key figures like Ken Loach, Des Wilson and Sheila McKechnie.
