Synopsis

About two Jewish boys evacuated to Blackpool from war-torn Manchester. Brothers Neville and Danny find a stark contrast between the warmth and life of their family home and neighbours, and Mr and Mrs Graham, a middle-aged to eldery couple who take them in. They are made to do household tasks and to eat pork sausages when they are served up, their parcels from home are taken away and their letters censored. The local boys gang up on them as evacuees from Manchester. On their mother's visit the younger brother reveals what is happening to them and their unhappiness through a story-game, and she takes them straight back home.
