Robin Hood, a dispossessed Saxon noble, leads a band of merrie men in Sherwood Forest. To the increasing anger of Prince John and the local sheriff, Robin and his men rob the rich to feed the poor. Prince John captures Robin after luring him into an archery tournament, and Robin is sentenced to death. Marian warns the merrie men, who stage a daring rescue. Finally, the rightful king, Richard, returns to prevent John from seizing the throne.
