GAZL EL BANAT
Samar, a teenage girl from war-torn Beirut in the Lebanon, born and brought up in an environment of war and violence, begins a friendship with Karim, an artist who lives in a pink villa. Samar becomes fixated with Karim, who is devoted to traditional painting, and fascinated by the enormous house where he lives. In contrast to Karim, who finds it increasingly difficult to bear the futility of living against a background of constant death and destruction, Samar is unconcerned and resilient, and accepts it as the norm. The two form a silent bond.
