World famous American singing star Jenny Bowman is in London to top the Palladium bill. She visits David Donne, a distinguished surgeon with whom she was once in love and who has brought up their son, Matt, as an adopted child. Jenny persuades David to let her see Matt and invites them to her opening night. David is abroad but Matt, against his orders goes to the show and spends several happy days with Jenny. She pleads with David on his return to allow Matt to stay with her, and Matt, overhearing their quarrel, learns that Jenny is his mother. Made to choose between them he rejects his mother. David tries to show Jenny that her happiness lies in the theatre and later, on stage, she realises that he is right.
