Period comedy. In Edwardian times Louis Mazzini, the poor relation of a noble family, vows vengeance on them for the treatment of his mother. He murders the eight heirs who stand between him and the Dukedom. He marries the widow of one of his victims, but his former lover successfully accuses him of a murder he did not commit. A last minute reprieve is spoiled by his having left his memoirs in prison.
