Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles
In San Francisco, Louis, a vampire, is interviewed by a young journalist. He tells him of his meeting in the eighteenth century with Lestat who offers him the chance to become a vampire. Louis drinks Lestat's blood and is transformed but rebels against Lestat's cruelty and tries to exist on animals' blood. Finding Claudia, a little girl grieving for her plague-victim mother, Louis cannot resist drinking her blood. Lestat turns her into a vampire as well. As years pass Claudia becomes resentful of Lestat for trapping her forever in a child's body and decides to murder him. Louis and Claudia later encounter Armand, the vampire proprietor of a theatre where Santiago suspects Claudia of the murder of a vampire. When Santiago executes Claudia Louis burns down the theatre. In 1988 he finds Lestat in New Orleans. Louis refuses to make the interviewer into a vampire but Lestat is in need of rejuvenation.
