Synopsis

Looks at the story of how Scots farming families settled in Poland during the last century, when a Polish general decided to redevelop his vast farming estate using British agricultural methods. Besides passing on their modern techniques, the families also introduced the potato to Poland. There is also a report from Eric Robson on the protection of rarer breeds of livestock, looking at a group from Linga Holm in the Orkneys, who aim to preserve a rare breed of seaweed-eating sheep.
