- California Dreaming Original
An estimated 70% of the world's lethal air pollution, and a quarter of the so-called 'Greenhouse gases' come from car emissions. California has developed a plan to clean up the air of the city of Los Angeles by the year 2007. A mass transit railway is being built and companies will be fined for allowing their employees to travel alone in cars, but, above all, cars sold in the city after the turn of the century must be 'zero emitting'. The programme looks at the auto industry's new technology designed to keep the car in business, and at a new style of city that could end the American dream that car-ownership by individuals represents.
