Synopsis

Considers the Natural History Museum and its philosophy past and present, looking at some of the recent innovations, methods of display, etc. that have been introduced in the past few years. It examines the conflict between the surface, popular, "money-making" exhibitions, which many of the scientists working there feel are being promoted and established at the expense of less popular, but scientifically more vital, collections and research. Recent director Dr Neil Chalmers justifies his policies and restructuring, and the academics and scientists adversely affected by them also air their worries and concern.
