Synopsis

Godard narrates a montage of images from different media and genres - painting, photography, cinema and video - to present some of the possible stories in the history of cinema. In two parts.

Part 1A: TOUTES LES HISTOIRES Godard covers post-Revolutionary Soviet cinema, the growth and consolidation of Hollywood and the birth of television. He compares the power of Hollywood with the social importance of the cinema in Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany, through to the end of World War Two.
