A portrait of the director's father, José Nava, who in the early 1960s travelled from Mexico to England intending a short stay, but never went back. For 35 years he has worked in performance theatre and continued his passion for painting. The film is an impressionistic view of being a migrant in Britain, feeling "like a fish in the wrong pond", presenting a world in which the distinctions between memory, fantasy and reality have collapsed. It also explores the contradictory dynamic that exists between father and son, and fuses a personal trajectory with broader issues of identity, ethnicity and art.
