Comedy. Miles Logan is a safecracker, part of a team attempting to steal a large diamond from a Los Angeles skyscraper. When an attempt is made by Deacon, the team leader, to double-cross the others, Miles manages to tape the diamond in a small hiding place in a neighbouring building - unfortunately Miles is then arrested. Upon his release from prison, two years later, he realises that the building he used as a hiding place now forms part of the Los Angeles Police Department. Miles has to pose as a detective to enter the building, and by pure chance helps to catch an escaping convict - which leads to his being promoted and partnered with a rookie detective.
