The Filth and the Fury

  • Stills (2)

Documentary. The history of seminal punk band the Sex Pistols, led by singer John Lydon, better known as Johnny Rotten. The band and their controversial manager, Malcolm McLaren, first came to prominence in 1975. After gaining fame, particularly following a notorious early evening television appearance in 1976, and having sacked bassist Glen Matlock in favour of a new band member, Sid Vicious, they embarked on a disastrous American tour in early 1978, leading to the break-up of the band in acrimonious circumstances. The film contains contemporary footage and interviews with the ex-members.
