Satire. In a parody of the cinéma verité genre, a documentary film-maker tracks every move of a struggling New York actress on the verge of fame as a racy commercial brings her unexpected national notoriety. Complicating matters further, the seemingly earnest documentarist secretly hopes his documentary about fame will propel him to fame as well.
