A Day No Pig Would Die

Film details

Synopsis

Press release: "This haunting coming-of-age tale, told with quiet humor and a unique, compelling voice, is destined to be the next classic movie of our time. Like Places in the Heart and Tender Mercies, it addresses issues of family and survival with a poignancy and cheer that touch us all.

A Day No Pigs Would Die explores the relationship between a young boy and his father in the last year of his life. A farmer at home and pig slaughterer by trade, the simple man tries to teach his boy acceptance of life, death, and the hard work of wresting life from the land, before their time together is over.

Through both painful and joyful experiences on the family farm and living amongst nature on a daily basis, the father shares his simple secrets and gains a powerful bond with his son, as he becomes a man. And on the day he buries his father in the earth, the son has learned the true value of everything his father taught him.

A Day No Pigs Would Die rings with the unadorned power of a hymn. An emotional drama that explores the triumph of compassion, dignity and the human spirit - once heard, it is not soon forgotten."
