Reign of Fire | BFI | British Film Institute

Underground construction work leads to the uncovering of an enormous cave containing a female dragon and her eggs. The newly awakened dragon makes for the surface, killing the mother of a watching schoolboy in the process. Over the next two decades dragons overrun the planet, feasting on charred human flesh. Pockets of survivors exist on their wits. One group is headed by the now-grown schoolboy Quinn. An American commando named Denton Van Zan arrives with a plan for a series of assaults on the dragon stronghold - London.
