Synopsis

Explores the recent scientific discovery that supermassive black holes lie at the heart of every galaxy, including the Milky Way, and may help to trigger the birth of galaxies, lying at the heart of the creation of stars, planets and life itself. Participants include: Profs Karl Gebhardt, Sandra Faber, John Kormendy and Doug Richstone and Drs Alan Dressler and John Maggorian from the Nuker Team, Prof Laura Ferrarese of Rutgers University, Dr Andrew Fruchter of the Space Telescope Science Institute, Prof Andrea Ghez of the University of California in Los Angeles, Prof Joseph Silk of the University of Oxford, and Prof John Dubinski of the University of Toronto.
