Shoot Out

Synopsis

When two teenage lovers went on a shooting spree in Paris, the French nation was appalled. Audry Maupin and Florence Rey were students with a bright future: what motivated them to go on a car chase that left four police officers dead? The media dubbed them the French Bonnie and Clyde and dismissed the incident as a tragic crime of passion. Copycat killings were also suggested - a poster of the film Natural Born Killers was found in their flat. Maupin died in the incident and Rey was sentenced to 20 years in prison. But six years on, their friends are still mystified; no reason has ever been given as to why the shoot-out happened. This film offers an explanation, pointing to evidence that the couple were not acting alone or for noreason. It suggests that Audry and Florence were being manipulated and that the true account of what happened is darker than any put forward at the time. [Channel 4 Press Information]
