Action comedy. Dental-supplies salesman Andy Fiddler travels to Detroit to give a speech to a dentists' convention. That same day, a Detroit policeman named Derrick Vann comes under suspicion of corruption after his partner dies in a gangland shooting. Learning that his partner was part of a criminal network dealing with stolen weapons, Vann sets out to prove his own innocence by infiltrating the gang and catching its leaders. Helped by a police informer, Vann arranges a contact with one of the gangsters. Mistaking Fiddler for Vann, the gangster hands himm a bag containing a gun and runs away. Fiddler pulls out the gun in a coffee shop and Vann arrets him. Fiddler protests his innocence, but the police computer reveals an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Istanbul, where he bought a antique rug that turned out to be stolen.
