Drama set in East Berlin in the mid-1980s. Stasi officer Wiesler is assigned the job of keeping an eye on dramatist Georg Dreyman. By close surveillance of Georg and his life, Wiesler begins to encounter and be affected by new concepts such as art, love and a desire for freedom.
