Agnès Varda on Jane B. par Agnès V.

French director Agnès Varda took to the BFI Southbank stage several times during a season of her films in May 2010, here following a screening of Jane B. par Agnès V. (1987). In this interview Varda recollects her first experiences as a photographer, fondly recollecting the value placed on the image when opportunities to have your portrait taken were far and few between, and each photograph was cherished as a result. Recognising the close relationship between photography and film she goes on to explore her film Jane B. par Agnès V., explaining how the collaboration with Jane Birkin originated. Finally she talks about her presence within her films, as a way of connecting the audience with the author behind the camera.
