Q&A with Michael Winner for The Jokers

BFI National Archive curators Vic Pratt and Will Fowler speak to Michael Winner, the director of The Jokers (1967), about his relationships with the famous actors and iconic locations in the film. Michael Winner humorously tells the audience about how he struggled to get the film 'to go' after The Girl Getters/The System (1964), but finally Joseph Cantor at Universal supported him. Winner reveals how the off and on screen relationship between Oliver Reed and Michael Crawford began with resistance from Crawford, but gave way to camaraderie as soon as they met each other. Winner also pays a touching tribute to his friend and star of seven of his films, Oliver Reed.
