Needless to say that my list would have looked different last year and might even look different next month. Though I don’t mistake my favourites for the greatest films ever, there’s too big a lack of mandatory criteria as to which films should be in the pantheon to care for that demon called objectivity. So I tried to find a delicate balance betweeen les films de ma vie and films whose merits and achievements in the history of cinema can hardly be denied – with a slight penchant for films with a personal impact.
