Spring in a Small Town is absolutely the best Chinese film ever – the most successful drama film that embodies the Eastern philosophy and Chinese sentimentalism. Farewell, My Concubine is a miniature of China’s history from the 1930s to the 1970s. This film has become the key to understand Chinese society.
